The cable I have does indeed "work" if one backdates the driver to one dated years ago - before the "maybe arguably counterfeit chip" was discovered and came into common usage. Wasted a half hour of my time!! Ain't ham radio great!!Ĭlick to expand.Well in all fairness - you may be taking a bit of literary license with that statement. Just wanted to help you find a cheap cable and ended right back at $50. Guess by the time you spend $30 for the cable only, you might as well kick in another $17.95 and just buy the entire package from HRO: If so, the cable is $30 from RT Systems - pretty expensive for an FTDI cable, but saves you the hassle of making it.įinally - RT Systems has a pretty good reputation for supporting all the obscure memory locations - perhaps better than a generic version of Chirp? Hard to know without a direct comparison.

So I suppose the next question is will that cable will work with Chirp? OK - after a bit of digging, the RT Systems USB-29F cable works with:įT-1900 FT-1907 FT-2800 FT-2900 FT-2980 Wonder if the cable will work with multiple Yaesu radios, using Chrip?

RT Systems clearly states the Programming software in unique for each radio, but not sure about the cable. It was part of their Advanced Data Management System (ADMS-M3200/3207-USB) package for Yaesu FTM-3200 and FTM-3207. Must look into that! My RT Systems USB cable is marked USB-29F and terminates in a 6 pin modular microphone (RJ-25 style) plug. Hum - never thought to check how many different radios might work with that cable. But have been thinking about upgrading to a VHF/UHF model and would like to avoid spending another $50. When I won an FTM-3200 at the Milwaukee Radio Amateur's Club swap meet last year, figured I might as well invest $50 in the RT Systems cable & software (after all the radio was free). I use Chirp and a cheap FTDI cable to program my Baofengs.
